The 3 acre grassed area was originally the walled garden to Lambton Castle. Early images show greenhouses the length of the Northern wall and with heating provide throughout the garden. A fountain, now situated in the gardens of Biddick Hall, was the principle feature.
The garden would have provided everything for the castle kitchen and also cut flowers for the reception rooms. Grapes, melons, cucumbers and other exotics would have been grown in the greenhouses. The head gardener’s house stands above the garden and at one time a team of 15 gardeners and under gardeners would have been employed.
Weddings and Corporate Events
Situated in the middle of Lambton Park the Walled Garden provides a safe and secure environment for any occasion. A small pavilion, kitchen facilities and a toilet block are available. Perhaps most important is that the garden has 3 phase electricity which will cope with most requirements for musicians, extra catering services or entertainment.
Access may be limited to one way in or out which have proved attractive for events where there are children. Ample parking is available to the west of the location.
