Lambton Estates has been the location for many TV and Film scenes including the television period drama, ‘The Paradise’.


Lambton Estates has been the location for several prime time television programmes and films. The estate offers a variety of locations which include Lambton Castle, Biddick Hall, the River Wear, 1,200 acres of woodland and parkland as well as a portfolio of different buildings ideal for filming purposes or workshops. Subject to availability, production offices can also be based at Bowes Business Park. All film and television production can be based within the estate.

Notable productions include:

  • Inspector George Gently – starring Martin Shaw and in this particular episode the late Roger Lloyd Pack
  • The Dumping Ground – A CBBC production Christmas special based on Alice in Wonderland
  • Harriet’s Army – Another CBBC special to commemorate the outbreak of WWI
  • The Paradise – A BBC period drama based on the novels of Emile Zola. Starring Joanna Vanderham & Emun Elliott. Two seasons.
  • Estranged – thriller movie starring Amy Manson and James Cosmo
