History

There has been a mansion house on the site of Biddick Hall since the time of King Stephen of England (1096-1154), grandson of William the Conqueror when it was held by a family de Biddie.

In 1814 Mary Lambton bequeathed the Hall to a distant kinsman who in turn sold Biddick to his relative, John George Lambton, 1st Earl of Durham.
